Lexington, KY - The H1N1 Virus, also known as the "swine flu," has dominated news headlines for months now. More and more cases are being reported, and people have been lining up to get their vaccinations. With shortages being reported in some areas, and concerns in some circles as to whether the vaccine is safe for everyone, it would be easy to be tempted by other so-called "cures" floating around out there on the Internet.
Your Better Business Bureau warns you not to lose your money or jeopardize your health by not seeking medical attention if you do suspect you have the H1N1 virus. Use caution too in looking for preventive measures as well.
Earlier this year, the Food & Drug Administration surfed the Internet looking for items being fraudulently advertised as preventive remedies or even cures for H1N1.
One the FDA was concerned about offered a medicine advertised as able to "kill the swine flu virus." Another advertised herbal tea that supposedly prevents swine flu. This list goes on and on.
And the Centers for Disease Control is even warning of people who encourage "swine flu parties" where people gather with infected persons to "catch" the illness and supposedly build up immunity. BAD IDEA!
Health officials warn that you are not going to find any cures for the swine flu on the Internet. Always consult with a physician before trying other remedies to make certain it won't negatively affect any conditions you have. If you see a sure fire cure on line, don't fall for it!
